It is simple for children to apply on their own, making it ideal for holiday's, day trips, nursery or school. And because it's compact and lightweight, kids can easily carry it around in their a little day packs and school bags. Its reusable, so just top up with your own sunscreen and your ready to go. The best part is, no messy hands as the sponge distributes the sunscreen evenly over your skin.

To use, simply unscrew the head, fill with your favourite sunscreen, pop the lid back on and you’re good to go! It really is that simple!
Solar Buddies work with most sunscreens. We advise not to use oily or watery type sunscreens (e.g Sprays and Nivea brand) as they can leak. For us conventional sunscreens from ‘squeezy’ bottles work best. Thicker creams can work but may need a little help getting to a roller ball. Try the 'ketchup shake' to help it out. Don't forget to wash the sponge frequently with warm soapy water and if you are not planning on using for a while clean it all out!
Important information:
The lifespan of the heads depends on how it is used and cared for. We recommend the Solar Buddies are cleaned after the vessel becomes empty (see this article for more information why it is important to clean your Solar Buddie). The heads need to be washed on a more regular basis to stop the head becoming clogged with sunscreen. Do not leave the Solar Buddie in direct sunlight or temperatures that exceed 30C. If in extreme heat keep your Solar Buddies in a shaded place. Do not use sunscreens high in alcohol as this can affect the adhesive. If all directions are followed the Solar Buddies can last in excess of 6-8 weeks. We have always managed to get at least 4-5 months out of each sponge caring for the Solar Buddie as directed. Sponges can be purchased separately.

This sunscreen applicator is a game changer, I'm so obsessed. I love how it glides on so very nicely. Both of my kids absolutely love to use it. My son can confidently put his own sunscreen on now and doesn't moan about it and now even my daughter loves to try and do it herself too. I honestly even loving using this for myself as well as it means less sunscreen on my hands, huge win!!!
We have found them amazing if the kids are going somewhere I know they are more likely to use it.no one likes sunblock hands. I even use it for myself. Find the sponges easy to replace when needed. Love!!
Also for the older generation I find this is alot easier when they struggle with getting around.
Awesome and good value
This is the second pack I've purchased of the solar buddies. My near 2 year old loves hers and is super helpful for the independent "No" phase she is going through. She loves putting on her own sunscreen, any other bottle immediately invokes "No, No, No".
We've gifted a solar buddy to her local cousins, plus this set was for her cousins in the bay of plenty (the older one reckons he is going to share sunscreen with all his friends now). Highly recommend! (Plus adult friendly; so handy for whacking on some quick sunscreen yourself since it is likely to be in your bag!)
I bought this for my daughter as she loves a roll on sunblock and this is refillable. She loves it and enjoys that the sponge spreads out the sunblock.
It definitely would be great for anyone with sensory issues who doesn’t like touching sunblock with their hands

The Savvi Sand does exactly what it is designed for to get wet and dry sand off your skin. No more mess in the car after going to the beach. Also can have picnics on the beach with no more sandy fingers! We love the solar buddie so much we own at least 8! With an eczema child it’s the best way to ensure he only gets his sunscreen on him especially as he goes to preschool 5 days a week. We have two at preschool, then the rest are in our cars, bags etc. Sunscreen is a must and the solar buddie makes my life easier.

Best product on the market for applying sun cream to babies and younger children. It is also excellent for us seniors as it is mess free and covers well without getting your hands covered in sunblock.
A friend recommended this and I’m so glad we got it. This kids are happy to put sunblock on now and even want to do it themselves. It’s a “fun†thing for them. Will probably get another for the school bag.
Brought these as I hate the feeling of sunscreen but now using these on my boy is a dream. He loves them and doesn't want me to stop using it which is a plus. I did wonder at first if it was putting a thick enough layer on but he hasn't been burnt yet so it must be sweet!
Great idea but I found that the blue applicator lid doesn't open easily so my son can't really use it on his own. Even for me, I have to twist the lid really hard. The orange fillable part lid works fine so not sure if I just got a faulty one.
If you don’t have one… GET ONE!! This set has changed the game when it comes to sunscreen on the kids! The kids are able to do it their self without it going everywhere and you are rest assured that the kids have sunscreen on properly
We used this last summer and needed to replace the sponge but decided to get this pack with 2 applicators and replacement heads as one will be heading off to preschool to help our child learn to apply his own sunscreen. Perfect tool for the job to reduce mess and keep him safe and covered in sunscreen!
Don’t use a gel like sunscreen in it. Otherwise it clogs it.
However love the clip to attach to backpack and customer service was amazing.
