A handcrafted Wera (Whale Tail) pendant carved in Jade or Pounamu with a traditional gloss finish by our Auckland carving studio.

It includes an adjustable plaited waxed braid cord, a traditional style woven presentation pouch and a detailed description of the meaning of the carving.

The whale with its great size and obvious intelligence played an important part in the culture of the Māori people. They were often represented as an example of family love with mother and calf always side by side and touching at every opportunity.
The whale is regarded as a guardian and protector of the ocean.
